Company description…

Mariana Strategies is a workplace culture consultancy providing organizations resources organizations to prevent and address harassment and create stronger and healthier workplace cultures of inclusion. We do this through: (1) workshops to build self-awareness about harassment and prevention; (2) delivering robust, tailored policies and procedures; and (3) providing advice and support on implementation.

I started my company because…

In late 2017, the words “me too” were reverberating around the world and the experience of sexual harassment in the workplace was being discussed seemingly everywhere. As an attorney, I knew that the laws hadn’t changed, but at that moment, our culture had changed. I also knew that a purely legal approach to preventing workplace harassment had been a failure and that businesses were struggling to find a more robust means of preventing and addressing harassment. I decided then that I would leave behind my career in nonprofit management to focus instead on working with businesses to ensure their workplace culture was equitable, inclusive and free of harassment through building systems of accountability, leadership commitment and culture change.

The impact I want my company to have on the world…

I want our work to be a catalyst that creates inclusive, equitable workplaces. Culture change is gradual, but it starts with individuals by sparking conversations, changing norms and recalibrating expectations for behavior.

Top 3 goals for my business are…

  1. Create a climate in every business where workplace harassment isn’t tolerated.
  2. Create an expectation that respect and inclusivity is the norm at work.
  3. Ensure that all people feel safe at work.

Women entrepreneurs are…

Not a monolith.

I #EmbraceAmbition because…

There’s a lot of work to be done. Get busy.
