#ToryBurchFellows

Women of the Wanderful community.

Company description…

Wanderful is an international community of women who love to travel. With nearly 40,000 members worldwide, Wanderful connects travelers through meet-ups in 46 global cities, group trips, global events like the Women in Travel Summit and Wanderfest and an international, woman-to-woman home sharing network.

I started my company because…

I have experienced first-hand the challenges many women face when they travel, especially alone. I was surprised that women make 80% of travel purchasing decisions and yet are largely viewed as a niche market. We have major needs that the travel industry is failing to address. I also saw how much demand there was for a sense of community and sisterhood. I thought, what if we could leverage our own unique knowledge, experiences, and resources to help other travelers coming to our hometowns?  That’s how Wanderful was born.

The impact I want my company to have on the world…

I want to help change the way women travel by making it easier to make real, authentic connections with other women around the world. To make it so that women, even when they travel solo, never truly feel alone. To provide powerful revenue streams to women who have historically been left out of the sharing economy. And to help change the travel industry be more representative, inclusive, and considerate of women and our needs.

Top 3 goals for my business are…

  1. Empower women to travel solo safely and confidently by leveraging a live network of over one million women who can guide them around the world.
  2. Challenge traditional definitions of travel and advocate for greater inclusion of women and underrepresented people in the travel industry.
  3. Help build economic prosperity for women previously marginalized in the travel space.

Women entrepreneurs are…

Deeply underrated, undervalued and underrepresented—but so, so powerful.

I #EmbraceAmbition because…

I challenge the norm about who an entrepreneur is and hope to pay it forward for the next generation.
