Tot Squad van making a house call.

Company Description…

Tot Squad’s vision is to become the “Geek Squad” of the baby world. We provide car seat installations, baby gear cleaning, and stroller repairs in partnership with retailers. Based in LA, we have a national network of car seat technicians to service growing B2B partnerships and are scaling via franchising.

I started my business because…

Even though I am not yet a mom, I started my business because I wanted to improve the work-life balance for busy parents. As a young management consultant, I saw many women turning 30 and trying to make partner while starting a family – and ultimately my firm was left with zero female partners. While pursuing my MBA at Northwestern, I spent a year cataloging ideas that would save parents time or frustration before learning that as many as 90% of baby car seats are misused, and the leading cause of death for children is car accidents. My passion to help moms while keeping kids safe propels me forward on my quest to scale this business!

What makes my company unique…

The New York Times recently credited Tot Squad for forging a new industry for stroller cleaning and repairs in the baby gear world. Combined with our goal to lead progress in the car seat safety space (which is largely driven by volunteers and public servants), we are bringing a completely new kind of business to the market.

Mantra I live by…

Be relentlessly optimistic and resilient. Persistence is critical to success.

You should vote for me because…

As a female entrepreneur with a business primarily targeting female customers, I have faced headwinds while fundraising because the large majority of investors (typically older men) have never personally been responsible for cleaning their children’s car seats. They “don’t get it”, or they only invest in tech start-ups and don’t understand the benefits of the proven franchise business model. This program will help me access growth capital from women who understand the pain point we are addressing.

Top 3 goals for my business are…

  1. Dramatically reduce the statistics around children being injured in car accidents by teaching parents and caregivers how to properly use their car seats.
  2. Build an amazing company culture by creating flexible and rewarding careers for my team and developing business opportunities for our franchisees.
  3. Build out the B2B side of our business by offering cleaning and car seat installation services for Uber (our newest customer!), rental car companies, Amazon, and car seat manufacturers.

Women entrepreneurs are…

Game changers! We dream big, work hard, and get stuff done.

Being a Tory Burch Foundation Fellow would allow me to…

Focus on scaling the company instead of focusing on fundraising, which can seem like a full-time job! Additionally, the opportunity to learn from other women entrepreneurs, who have overcome adversity and built huge companies, would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I hope to gain the leadership skills required to build a company with a double bottom line: addressing a serious issue in our society while also providing profits and financial rewards for our investors, franchisees and our team.
