About the Business

Island Pops is a Caribbean inspired ice cream shop located in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. We provide the community with tropical inspired ice cream, sorbet and ice pops in flavors like soursop, nutmeg, sorrel and grapenut. We've recently added a line of craft gourmet chocolates to the menu through our sister brand Cocoa Calypso. Chocolates made from cacao sourced directly from Trinidad farmers. Our goal is to offer our customers a real taste of the Islands through carefully made homemade frozen desserts and chocolates at a reasonable price. When you come into our shop, you should feel a keen sense of community. Our flavors are made to evoke longing and nostalgia for the islands.

Shelly Marshall

Shelly is the founder of Island Pops and Cocoa Calypso, two Brooklyn-based brands bringing Caribbean culture to New York through ice cream and chocolates.

Island Pops is a Caribbean ice cream shop serving customers through its Brooklyn storefront and catering / mobile bar events — pairing bold tropical flavors with playful, culturally rooted experiences.

Cocoa Calypso reimagines Caribbean cacao through handcrafted bars, bon bons, truffles, pâté de fruit, bark, and traditional cocoa tea kits, crafted with pride from Trinidad's cocoa heritage.

Across both brands, Shelly's mission is the same: make Caribbean culture visible, present, and celebrated - through flavor, design, and experience.
