Spin & Learn is an educational enrichment company that brings table tennis and learning programs directly to schools and communities. We work with K–12 schools, community organizations, and public agencies across New York City, combining table tennis, physical activity, academics, and social-emotional development. Spin & Learn was created to expand access to inclusive sports and enrichment opportunities, giving young people of all backgrounds and skill levels a welcoming way to be active, learn, and grow. Through table tennis, students build confidence, discipline, focus, teamwork, and other skills they can use in school and everyday life.

I’m Yasiris Ortiz, founder and CEO of Spin & Learn. I grew up in the Dominican Republic, where I started playing table tennis as a child and eventually represented my country internationally, becoming the Women’s Caribbean Champion in 2018.

When I moved to New York in 2016, I wanted to introduce more young people to the sport that had given me so many opportunities. That idea eventually became Spin & Learn. What started with table tennis has grown into an educational enrichment company working with schools and communities across New York City and reaching thousands of students through sports, education, wellness, and youth development.

Entrepreneurship has required me to learn far beyond being an athlete or coach. I’ve had to learn how to sell to schools, build a team, manage finances, create systems, and lead a growing organization. I’m still learning, and that is one of the reasons I’m excited to be part of a community of women entrepreneurs. My goal is to continue growing Spin & Learn without losing the purpose behind why I started it.
