Committed to helping women reach their financial and professional goals, Sallie Krawcheck is an entrepreneur that gives back.

My best advice for entrepreneurs…

Ask for feedback; it’s incredibly valuable. But be sure to listen to the critics — the people who give you feedback because they care. And ignore the cynics — those nay-sayers who delight in telling you why it simply can’t be done.

I give back personally by…

Sponsoring a scholarship at my old high school, for disadvantaged students of exceptional aptitude. And I mentor young women as much as my calendar will allow.

My proudest accomplishment…

Transitioning my career from big-bank executive to entrepreneur, and raising at $10 million Series A to launch Ellevest.

The person that instilled giving back in me was…

My grandmother. She worked outside of the home at a time when most women did not, and she always had time to give back.

I feel most alive when…

I’m engaging with a group of professional women on issues that matter to them.

Where I want to SEE Ellevest in the next five years…

I want us to make a real impact on closing the gender-investing gap. It’s one that keeps women from living our fullest lives.

Tips for creating a culture of giving back…

Talk about it; live it.

Where I find inspiration…

Walking in Central Park. I’m always amazed by how that simple act spurs my creativity.

My favorite nonprofit is…

Women for Women International, founded by my amazing friend Zainab Salbi.

Because…

The name says it all. By working together women can accomplish amazing things.
