KONTi Design
creating better systems for how people live, build, and interact with our planet's resources
About the Business
KONTi rethinks the systems and places that support our lives—bringing together sustainability, resilience, circularity, technology, and human-centered thinking to create solutions that work better for people, communities, and the planet.
We believe the biggest opportunities for change exist at the intersections: where design meets technology, where waste becomes a resource, where resilience becomes everyday comfort, and where sustainability moves beyond individual materials to consider the entire lifecycle of a system.
KONTi turns these ideas into practical, regenerative solutions that can create lasting environmental, social, and economic value.
Carla Gautier Castro
Carla is a Puerto Rican architect, entrepreneur, and sustainability strategist focused on rethinking how systems can work better for people, communities, and the planet. She holds a B.S. in Architecture, M.Arch, and Doctorate (h.c) in Architecture from WIT and is a LEED Green Associate.
For nearly a decade, Carla founded and led KONTi Design, a innovative sustainability-focused design-build firm born from Puerto Rico’s recovery after Hurricane María. Under her leadership, KONTi designed 40+ residential and commercial projects and delivered 10 through design-build, exploring how resilience, circularity, technology, and business can drive meaningful change.
Casa Mar Azul became the first single-family residence in the Caribbean to achieve LEED Platinum and received a U.S. Green Building Council Market Leadership Award.
Carla is a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, CNN Champion for Change, Grist 50 Fellow, Tory Burch Fellow, Re-Gen Fellow, and serves on the Dean’s Advisory Board at WIT and USGBC’s Market Leadership Advisory Board.
Today, she is exploring how the KONTi way of thinking—systems thinking, sustainability, resilience, circularity, and entrepreneurial problem-solving—can create impact across industries and at greater scale.
