Authentic Books is a modern literary house known for creating a five-sense immersive reading experience that brings stories to life beyond the page. What began as a curated book subscription business has expanded into a brick-and-mortar bookstore and literary brand offering books, events, publishing, and immersive experiences. We serve readers who want to connect with stories in deeper, more meaningful ways, with a focus on books by underrepresented authors. Authentic Books exists to make reading more experiential, inclusive, and community-driven. We create spaces where people can discover stories, connect with others.

I’m Natisha Asbell, founder of Authentic Books, a modern literary house built around my love of books, community, and creating spaces where people feel like they belong.

I started Authentic Books in 2020 as a subscription box business, which eventually grew into a brick-and-mortar bookstore and expanded into events, publishing, and curated literary experiences.

I’m a builder at heart and have learned a lot about growing a business, navigating pivots, and figuring things out as I go. I love connecting with other founders, swapping ideas, and being able to talk honestly about the highs, challenges, and everything in between. I’m always up for a coffee, a bookstore visit, or a good conversation about entrepreneurship.
