Alexa Coburn is the founder and CEO of Stemly Tutoring. After earning her degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Alexa began her career as a design engineer in the aerospace industry, but quickly realized that traditional engineering wasn’t the path she wanted to follow. She left her job and moved abroad, where she began tutoring math and physics online and discovered how much she loved helping students build confidence in challenging subjects. What started as independent tutoring eventually grew into Stemly Tutoring, and in 2021 she began building a team to serve students across the country. Drawing on her own experience as a woman in a male-dominated field, Alexa is especially passionate about encouraging young women to see themselves as capable of succeeding in STEM. Today, she continues to grow Stemly with the goal of helping more students build confidence in math and science and recognize what they’re capable of.
