Michelle Lim Warner was a wine enthusiast before she became a wine professional. Evenings spent with her husband, Michael, who loves to cook, would include her choosing a bottle of wine to enjoy with their meal. These moments inspired DCANTER and a belief that still guides the business: wine is ultimately about the people we share it with.

After more than a decade in health policy and innovation, Michelle became a Certified Sommelier and in 2013, co-founded DCANTER with Michael in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington, DC. Their goal was to take the intimidation and guesswork out of buying wine and make the experience welcoming, approachable, and fun. What began as a neighborhood wine shop has grown into an award-winning, multi-location business with a personalized wine shopping and delivery service, Concierge by DCANTER.

In 2026, Michelle opened DCANTER's second location in the Old Town neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia and was selected as a Tory Burch Foundation Fellow. She is now leading the company into its next chapter, building the systems and partnerships needed to bring DCANTER's relationship-driven approach to communities across the country while preserving the human connection at its heart.
